The Lusail urban project is located north of Doha, the capital of Qatar. Al Sa’ad Plaza is part of a masterplan designed by Foster + Partners. Strategically positioned at the end of the commercial boulevard, connecting the football stadium to the Corniche, this new public square creates a dynamic, pedestrian-focused space, completed in 2022 for the FIFA World Cup. Water runs the length of the boulevard, its movement animating the public space and cooling the atmosphere. Together with the vegetation, it helps create a microclimate, leveraging the heat absorbed through evaporation—a well-known thermodynamic principle in the region.
