In Hangzhou, water is a common thread between past and present, between nature and urbanity, between tradition and innovation. It gives the city its unique identity.

At the heart of the city and near West Lake, the OōEli Complex, designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop in collaboration with Greentown Orient Architects, follows the logic of « superblocks » by developing a mixed-use program around a central park—a true urban oasis. Here, water forms its structural framework.

The pools, designed along precise axes, organize perspectives and ensure visual continuity between the 16 buildings, the landscape, and the architecture. With delicate touches, floral water effects bring life to the reflective pools. Ephemeral and poetic, they evoke springtime in Hangzhou, adding rhythm and lightness to the composition. These features combine technical precision with poetic intention, creating a harmony between nature and urbanity.
