practice
Founded in 1981 in Paris by Jean Max Llorca, JML is an international design and engineering firm specializing in the creation of water feature projects, irrigation systems, and rainwater enhancement.
We operate at all scales and support our project management partners throughout every phase of study and construction oversight.
Our work philosophy is built on a spirit of collaboration, both with our clients and within our own team. Since 2001, the firm has been based in the heart of Barcelona.
understand
Adapting cities to climate change requires a profound transformation in urban water system management. We are committed to better integrating our systems into expanded, multi-use urban contexts that promote circularity.
We are convinced that a deeper understanding of the natural water cycle—in the atmosphere, in the soil, and in its interaction with plants—is an essential component for developing new management models.
transform
We transform public spaces with water.
Water is a powerful tool in urban landscape design: we are committed to creating small water cycles that help to cool, preserve soil quality, and make the city more vibrant and beautiful.
We place water at the heart of our thinking and the development of the projects we contribute to. Through a holistic approach, we implement systems that enable more efficient water resource management. Our hybrid systems integrate fountains, irrigation, and rainwater harvesting.

imagine
Imagination is a power of creation. It is decisive because it unlocks the full potential of the unknown. Our approach is exploratory, seeking to reveal unexpected possibilities. Some behaviors of water challenge our reference points and question our certainties. This ever-changing nature stimulates us and reminds us that unpredictability is the very norm of the world.
In short, we dream to glimpse the outlines of the world of tomorrow.
design
The design of our projects is rooted in technical mastery cultivated through decades of experience. Our expertise is built on a deep understanding and command of both architecture and engineering, as well as aesthetics and technical precision. These two fields constantly intertwine in our practice.
Working with water has taught us rigor and precision. We have developed our own criteria for calculations, tolerances, and standards to achieve the highest quality in our projects.
We thrive on collaborative teamwork, fostering constructive dialogue with our partners and clients.

BIM
Our graphic documents are recognized for their clarity, technical rigor, and attention to detail. This commitment to excellence enables us to thrive in the international market and collaborate with diverse teams. We master BIM (Building Information Modeling) and have extensive experience in complex, collaborative projects. This process allows us to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, identify optimal technical solutions with all project partners and deliver consistent, high-quality outputs.
